Introducing Tessera Learn: 16 free guides to testing your algo strategy
Tessera · 26 October 2026

Today we're launching Tessera Learn, a free library of practical guides for algo and systematic traders. There are 16 guides to start, covering the questions we hear most often: how to get your results out of TradingView, how to tell whether a backtest is real, how to use AI without fooling yourself, and how to run a strategy inside prop firm rules.
Every guide works on its own, whether or not you use Tessera. Each one answers the question in the first couple of lines, then goes into the detail, with worked examples, Pine Script you can copy, and the checks we'd run ourselves.
TradingView backtests
The Strategy Tester summary shows one profit factor for your whole history. These guides show what's underneath it.
- How to export TradingView Strategy Tester results: CSV or XLSX, which plan you need, the 9,000-trade limit and what every column means.
- How to analyse a TradingView backtest by session, weekday and hour
- Why your strategy works in backtest but not live: the usual causes, with a check for each.
- Is my backtest overfit? A practical checklist
- How many trades you need for a valid backtest: rules of thumb, the maths behind them, and a reference table.
AI and Pine Script
AI assistants have made writing a strategy nearly free. Checking it is the hard part.
- How to connect Claude to TradingView with TradingView's new official MCP server
- TradingView MCP server: what it can and can't do
- How to test a strategy ChatGPT or Claude wrote
- Claude for Pine Script: write, debug and test
- Pine Script session, time and weekday filters
Trading metrics
- What is a good profit factor?
- Trading expectancy: the formula and why win rate isn't enough
- MAE and MFE analysis for better stops and targets
Platforms and prop firms
- How to export your Hyperliquid trade history, including funding and the API for larger histories
- How to export an MT5 Strategy Tester report for EA traders
- How to pass a prop firm challenge with an algo strategy
What's next
We'll keep adding guides, and we'll keep the existing ones up to date as TradingView, brokers and prop firms change. If there's a question you'd like answered, get in touch.
You can browse everything at tesseratrades.com/learn. And if you'd like to see the ideas in these guides applied to your own strategy, upload a Strategy Tester export or your trade history for a free report.
