TradesViz Alternatives for 2026 7 Trading Journals Compared

TradesViz is cheap, deep and imports from almost everywhere. Here is when an alternative makes more sense, and which one. Prices checked November 2026.

Reviewed on TrustPilot

Short answer: TradesViz is one of the best value journals available, with a free plan, broad imports and a huge statistics library, so most traders do not need to leave it. Look elsewhere if you want to test entry filters as well as exits on your strategy's trades and take the rule back to TradingView (Tessera), if you want replay and playbooks (TradeZella), if you want discipline tools (Edgewonk), or if you want something simpler (Tradervue).

Prices and features below were checked on each vendor's own site as of November 2026, in US dollars before tax. Promotions change often, so check current pricing before you buy.

What TradesViz does well

TradesViz is hard to beat on value. The Basic plan is free for stocks on one account. Pro, at $19.99 a month or $14.99 billed yearly, opens up every asset class, ten accounts, unlimited imports and a set of AI tools, plus a REST API. Platinum, at $29.99 or $22.49 billed yearly, adds 600 plus statistics, custom dashboards, risk simulators, full trading simulators with a prop firm challenge mode, and an options backtester.

Imports are broad. TradesViz lists support for 250 plus brokers and platforms, with auto sync for MetaTrader 4 and 5, NinjaTrader, Interactive Brokers, Tradovate and others. Its stop loss and profit target simulator replays different exits bar by bar on your past trades, which is more than most journals offer.

We consider it our closest competitor on imports, and we would rather say so plainly.

Why traders look for a TradesViz alternative

The common triggers:

You want to test entry filters, not only exits. The TradesViz what-if simulator changes stops and targets. It does not drop trades that fail a session, weekday or volatility condition and show you the result.

You want the result back on TradingView. TradesViz is a journal and analytics platform. It does not turn a tested rule into Pine.

Your strategy lives in TradingView's Strategy Tester and you want to analyse the export directly.

Too much choice. Hundreds of statistics are powerful, and also a lot to wade through when you want one answer.

You want replay, playbooks or discipline tools that other journals centre on.

1. Tessera: best for algo and systematic traders testing rules on their own fills

Tessera is trade analytics and a journal built for traders whose entries come from rules or code. It syncs IBKR (Flex), OANDA, cTrader, Binance and Liquid Brokers, and reads MT4 and MT5 reports, Tradovate, NinjaTrader Orders CSV, Hyperliquid trade history and the TradingView Strategy Tester export. Anything else comes in through Custom CSV. See the brokers page.

Statistics break results down by session, weekday, volatility regime and time of day. The simulator tests a rule change on the trades you actually took: drop entries that fail a condition, or replay different stops and targets on real candles. Rules that hold up become versioned policies you can export to Pine Script, and the workspace chains strategy, report, simulation and policy on one canvas.

Where it falls short of TradesViz: statistics and reports are not on the Free plan, and it has fewer statistics, fewer synced brokers, no MetaTrader live sync and no options tools.

Tessera also includes Strategy Lab, a backtester. Build a strategy without code, or with TES, the AI strategy coach, backtest it on years of data and stress test it on the unseen period, Monte Carlo, price noise, costs, other markets and prop-firm challenge rules. On paid plans, Launchpad can run that strategy on paper or on a cTrader or Liquid Brokers account. The strategy, the settings and the risk are yours, and a backtest is not a guide to future results.

Best for: algo and systematic traders, especially on TradingView, who want to test a rule on their own fills and export it. There is a Free plan, and paid plans start at $39 a month. Start with the free Entry Analysis report.

2. TradeZella: best for replay and playbooks

TradeZella centres on review habit: Trade Replay on Pro and above, playbooks, Zella AI and sync across 500 plus brokers and prop firms. It is more expensive, at $35 a month for Essential and $59 for Pro, or $26 and $44 billed yearly, with no free plan or trial listed.

Best for: discretionary day traders who want a guided review routine. More on the TradeZella alternatives page.

3. TraderSync: best for AI chat and market replay

TraderSync combines Cypher, an AI assistant that reviews trades in chat, with market replay and a backtester. List prices start at $29.95 a month and are often discounted, and there is a limited free journal.

Best for: traders who want coaching in chat. More on the TraderSync alternatives page.

4. Edgewonk: best for discipline

Edgewonk is built around behaviour: the Tiltmeter, psychology fields and checklists, plus Alternative Strategy Testing for exits on your real entries. It is $35 a month or $197 for 12 months, with a 14 day money back guarantee.

Best for: discretionary traders whose biggest leak is discipline. More on the Edgewonk alternatives page.

5. Tradervue: best for something simpler

Tradervue is a cleaner, smaller journal. Imports cover MT4, MT5, NinjaTrader, Interactive Brokers and many others, and Gold adds exit analysis. There is a free plan capped at 30 trades a month. Silver is $29.95 a month on its pricing page, but check current pricing.

Best for: traders who find TradesViz overwhelming. See the Tradervue alternatives page.

6. Myfxbook: best free tracker for MT4 and MT5

Myfxbook connects to MT4, MT5 and cTrader accounts and publishes free statistics and verified track records. It is tracking rather than journaling.

Best for: forex EA traders who want a free public record. More on the Myfxbook alternatives page.

7. A spreadsheet: best when you trade rarely

A spreadsheet is free and does exactly what you build. For a few trades a week it covers the basics. It cannot replay a stop change on candles without a lot of work.

Best for: traders with low trade counts who like building their own formulas.

Free TradesViz alternatives

TradesViz's own Basic plan is free for stocks. If you trade futures, forex or crypto and want free, as of November 2026:

  • Myfxbook: free for MT4, MT5 and cTrader accounts.
  • Tradervue Free: 30 trades a month.
  • TraderSync's free journal: manual entry with limited file imports.
  • A spreadsheet: free forever.
  • Tessera Free: the trade log for one broker account (last 30 days of trades), Strategy Lab with 5 backtests a week, and TES, the AI strategy coach, with 5 prompts a week. Statistics and reports are on paid plans, but the Entry Analysis report is free on your own trades from any broker, platform or spreadsheet.

Cheaper TradesViz alternatives

Very little is cheaper than TradesViz Pro at $14.99 a month billed yearly. Edgewonk's 12 month plan works out at about $16.40 a month. Tessera, TradeZella, TraderSync and Tradervue all cost more at list price: Tessera Standard is $39 a month, or $390 a year. Tessera does have a Free plan, and every plan includes Strategy Lab, a no-code backtester. See Tessera pricing.

TradesViz what-if simulator vs the Tessera simulator

Both tools replay changes on trades you actually took, which puts them ahead of most journals.

TradesViz's simulator applies a stop loss and profit target profile to your recent filtered trades and replays them bar by bar to see where each would have exited.

Tessera's simulator does the exit side too, then adds the entry side: it keeps or drops entries based on the conditions at the time, such as session, weekday, volatility regime or an indicator, so you can see what skipping a group of trades would have done. The surviving rule is saved as a versioned policy and exported to Pine Script.

How we chose these tools

We picked the journals traders most often weigh against TradesViz, plus the free options people actually use. Prices, free tiers and imports were checked on each vendor's own pages in November 2026. We have not run every tool side by side on the same account. Tessera is our product, so read its entry with that in mind.

How the Tessera workflow fits together

Tessera is a connected product suite on your closed trades: trade log and statistics, focused reports, a simulator, rules, and Pine export, kept together on one workspace.

Trade Log

Every fill lives in one place: synced from a broker or imported once through Custom CSV with a mapping you can reuse. Attach a market snapshot and a short note when the trade still matters, not as a mood ritual, but as context for later review.

That same history feeds everything else in Tessera. Statistics, reports, simulations and rules all read the closed trades you already took, so you are not stitching exports together every Sunday.

  • Sync supported brokers in one click
  • Map a CSV once, reuse the template
  • Snapshot the chart state at the fill
  • Optional notes, no mood checklist
  • Same fills power every later view
  • Review without a Sunday spreadsheet merge

Statistics

Statistics is the always-on read of your book: PnL, win rate, expectancy, drawdown, sessions, symbols, timing and risk, laid out so you can scan a period and move on. Filter the window and the charts follow the trades you selected.

There is no proprietary Tessera score and no composite grade that flattens your account into someone else's ideal profile. The dimensions stay checkable. When you need a deeper cut than the dashboard, you leave Statistics and run a focused report.

  • P&L, win rate, expectancy, drawdown
  • Cut by session, symbol, and timing
  • Filter a period; charts follow
  • Standard metrics you can audit
  • No proprietary composite score
  • Hand off to a report when you dig in

Reports

Reports answer a specific question on the same closed history. Performance Review for how a strategy or period actually behaved. Entry Analysis for which conditions at entry separated winners from losers. Exit Placement for whether stops and targets were doing their job.

Condition slices surface the pattern in plain terms: session, trend, volatility, distance to a level, indicator state. You leave with a cohort you can name, not a vague sense that "New York was bad." That cohort is what you take into Trade Review and the simulator next.

  • Which entry conditions actually paid
  • Whether your stops earned their keep
  • Session, trend, and volatility slices
  • Distance-to-level cohorts you can name
  • A finding you can take into the sim
  • Built on fills you already took

Trade Review

Trade Review puts your fills back on the chart in the price action and regime they happened in. After a report pick or a simulation, it also shows exactly which trades that finding or rule covers, so you are not working it out from a table of ticket IDs.

Use it to confirm the story before you change a rule. If the slice looks wrong on the chart, you catch it here. If it looks right, you have visual proof of the cohort you are about to test.

  • See each fill on the live candles
  • Regime and context at the entry
  • Highlight every trade in a report pick
  • Preview which fills a sim would touch
  • Catch a bad slice before you change rules
  • Visual proof before you save a rule

Simulator

The simulator asks what would have happened if you had traded the same closed history under a different rule. Keep or drop entries by the conditions present when you took them: session, trend, volatility, indicator state. Or leave the entries alone and vary stop loss and take profit distance.

Run one change at a time so you can see what moved. Compare the filtered cohort against the original. If the result holds up, you are ready to save it as a rule rather than leaving the insight in a screenshot folder.

  • Drop entries by session or condition
  • Test wider or tighter SL / TP distance
  • Hold everything else fixed
  • Compare filtered vs original cohort
  • Counterfactuals on your real fills
  • Promote a result into a rule

Policies

In Tessera, a policy is a versioned rule attached to a strategy: the keep filter, the veto, the exit distance that survived a simulation. It is not a note in a journal and not a half-remembered habit from last month's review.

When something holds up, you save it, name it, and keep it on the strategy so you can return to it, combine it with other rules, and re-test the stack. The point is a rule you can defend, not a feeling that you should "be more selective in New York."

  • Keep filters and veto rules, versioned
  • Exit distance saved on the strategy
  • Name the rule so you can find it again
  • Stack rules and re-simulate together
  • Return to last month's tested change
  • A rule you can defend, not a feeling

Policy Pine

Once a rule is worth forward testing, Policy Pine composes it into TradingView. Merge the rule into a copy of your existing strategy script, or export it as a standalone indicator you paste onto the chart yourself.

Tessera does not auto-push to your TradingView account. You stay in control of what hits the chart. The composed Pine is the bridge from a tested cohort back into live forward testing, with the experiment trail still sitting in Tessera.

  • Merge a tested rule into your script
  • Or export a standalone TV indicator
  • You paste; nothing auto-deploys
  • Forward test on TradingView candles
  • Keep the experiment trail in Tessera
  • Bridge from cohort to live chart

Connected workspace

The connected workspace is where the suite stops being a list of tools. The hub shows every strategy, report, simulation and rule you have built. Open a canvas and those pieces become a node graph linked by what produced what.

When a filter improves a cohort, you can still see the Entry Analysis that surfaced it, the simulation that tested it, and the rule you exported, on the same trail. That is how you know whether a change held up across your process, not only whether one review session felt better.

TES can narrate a prepared report when you run one. Tessera does not ship a dedicated tilt score or an automated weekly scan of your whole trade history. Findings are hypotheses, not conclusions. Forward test before you commit size.

  • See every strategy, report, and sim in one hub
  • Open a canvas where artefacts link by lineage
  • Trace a rule back to the report that found it
  • See the sim that proved a change
  • Know whether a rule held up over time
  • Stop hopping tabs for the full picture
