Build and backtest your trading strategy, then find out if you can trust it.
Describe a strategy in your own words or build it from setups, filters and exits. Strategy Lab backtests it on years of data, then checks it the way a quant would before it ever trades.
- 20 years of daily history
- 1m to 1D timeframes
- 50 markets in one test
- 1,000 Monte Carlo years
Build
Three ways to build, no code required.
Tell TES, the AI strategy coach, what you trade, attach a chart screenshot if it helps, and it builds the strategy and runs the backtest. Every change it proposes waits for you to confirm it.
Prefer to build it yourself? A strategy is a recipe: a setup, optional confluences, sessions, an entry and exits. Each part can run on its own timeframe, and Strategy Lab reads the recipe back to you in plain English so you know exactly what will be tested.
TES, the AI strategy coach
Builds the strategy, runs the backtest, searches up to 12 parameter combinations and explains any trade. You confirm every change.
The recipe composer
Setups, confluences, sessions, entry styles and exits, with 12 starter packs from ORB to sweep-then-FVG retests.
Custom rules
Write your own entry, filter, stop and target rules with 21 indicators, read on any higher timeframe without look-ahead.
Building blocks
The setups traders actually use, ready to test.
Strategy Lab ships with the setups and filters systematic traders ask for most, so you test the idea rather than spend a week coding it.
Candlestick patterns
39, from engulfing and pin bars to morning stars and three soldiers
Chart patterns
26, including head and shoulders, flags, wedges and triangles
ICT and smart money
Fair value gaps, inverse FVGs, order blocks, breakers, liquidity sweeps and runs
Levels
Opening range breakout, prior day, week and month highs and lows, swing breaks
Momentum and averages
MACD, Stochastic RSI, RSI divergences, SMA and EMA crossovers
Filters
Market regime, higher-timeframe bias, BOS and CHoCH, volume, ATR and Bollinger squeezes, killzones
Exits
R, ATR, swing or prior-day targets, break-even, trailing stops, up to 3 partials, time and clock exits
Sizing and costs
Fixed size or % risk, commission, slippage, spread and swap at the 5pm New York rollover
Forex, metals, indices, equities, ETFs, commodities, energy, bonds, futures and crypto, including Hyperliquid perpetuals. Timeframes from 1 minute to daily, with history from 1 year on 1-minute candles to 20 years on daily.
Results
More than P&L: every number you need to judge an edge.
Win rate, total R, expectancy in R and dollars, profit factor and drawdown in dollars, % and R. An equity curve with drawdown and margin-call markers. Daily, weekly and monthly P&L. Every trade on the chart, with its entry, stop, target, exit and excursion.
Honest warnings come with a one-click fix: no trading costs included, overnight financing missing, trades skipped for lack of margin, or data that will not match TradingView exactly.
Validate
Most backtesters stop at a profit number. Strategy Lab checks whether to believe it.
A good-looking equity curve is easy to find and hard to trust. Every backtest in Strategy Lab is checked for the things that usually make a strategy fail live, and each check gives a plain verdict.
Unseen period
The last 30% of the data is held back. Did the edge hold up, weaken or fail on data the strategy never saw?
Monte Carlo
1,000 simulated years, as tested and at half the edge: chance of a 30% or 50% drawdown and 12-month return bands.
Nudge the prices
Re-runs the strategy on 10 to 100 slightly different copies of the data and lists the fragile trades.
Costs and fills
Half spread on every fill, costs at half, typical or double, and a cautious mode when stop and target share a candle.
Other markets
The same rules on up to 50 markets, each with its own costs and unseen period. Does the edge carry across?
Overfitting guard
A multiple-testing warning tells you how many variants have been tried on the same data.
Prop firms
Would it pass the challenge? Test it before you pay the fee.
The account test replays your strategy's trades through a prop firm's rules, starting a fresh challenge every week of the data, at up to 6 account sizes. Daily loss and drawdown are checked inside every candle on open equity.
TradingView
Export the same strategy to Pine Script v6.
On paid plans, any backtested strategy exports to TradingView as a Strategy script and an Indicator script, generated from the same recipe bar for bar.
The Strategy script carries Strategy Lab's own trade times and draws a self-check table of matched, missing and extra trades, so you can see the two backtests agree. If part of a strategy can't be translated yet, the export refuses and tells you what is missing. It never swaps in different logic.
Deploy
When it holds up, launch it in one click.
- The next version goes back to step 02.
