Prop Firm Consistency Rule Calculator

Many prop firms cap how much of your total profit can come from your best day. Paste your daily P/L and enter the limit (40% by default) to see your best-day percentage, whether it passes, and how much more profit you need if it doesn't.

Net profit or loss per trading day, in order, one per line or comma-separated. Include losing days. No thousands separators.

%

The best day's maximum share of total profit under your firm's rule.

Not yet: best day is 50.0% of total profit (limit 40%)

You need 600.00 more profit, for 3,000.00 in total, assuming no later day beats your best.

The consistency rule formula

Consistency % = Best single day profit / Total profit
Required total profit = Best day / Consistency limit
Extra profit needed = Required total profit − Current total profit

This is the calculation set out in our prop firm consistency rule guide. The calculator treats a result exactly at the limit as a pass, which is how most firms word it; some require the best day to stay strictly below the limit.

Worked example

Five illustrative trading days (the calculator's default input):

DayP/LRunning totalBest dayConsistency
1+$600$600$600100%
2−$300$300$600200%
3+$1,200$1,500$1,20080%
4+$400$1,900$1,20063%
5+$500$2,400$1,20050%

At a 40% limit you need $1,200 / 0.40 = $3,000 in total, so another $600, as long as no later day beats $1,200. If day 6 loses $200, the total drops to $2,200, consistency rises to 55% and the gap grows to $800.

Before you rely on it

  • Use the firm's trading day. Futures sessions often start the previous evening, so an evening trade may belong to the next day.
  • Use the firm's window. Evaluations usually measure the whole evaluation; payout rules often measure the current payout cycle and reset after each payout.
  • Check the current rule. This calculator doesn't know any firm's rules. Limits vary by firm, account type and stage, and they change; the guide links to each firm's source pages.
